Our Journey Now: Jewish Wisdom for Growing Older from the Reconstructionist Movement

Shir Hadash Reconstructionist Community is launching a series of programs focusing on ways to lead a purposeful and fulfilling life as we age. The first program will take place Tuesday, May 7, from 5-6:30 p.m. at The J’s Staenberg Family Complex Arts & Education Building, 2 Millstone Campus Dr. (63146). A complimentary vegetarian Chinese dinner will be served.

Special guest speaker will be Rabbi Maurice Harris, Associate Director for Thriving Communities and Israel Affairs Specialist at Reconstructing Judaism, the central organization of the Reconstructionist movement. Harris will discuss “Our Journey Now: Jewish Wisdom for Growing Older from the Reconstructionist Movement.”

Many empty-nesters and seniors have great energy and talent that they’d like to channel in ways that build meaning and give strength to causes and communities they believe in.
Join Rabbi Harris for a chance to study some of what Jewish tradition has to say on how we can harness that desire and make the chapters of the second half of life compelling and exciting.

About the Speaker: Rabbi Maurice Harris grew up in Creve Coeur and is a graduate of Parkway North High School (’87). He was ordained at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 2003 and has worked as a congregational rabbi and as a member of the Thriving Communities department at Reconstructing Judaism. Harris is the author of two books, Moses: A Stranger among Us, and Leviticus: You Have No Idea. He is an adoptive parent and a lifelong Cardinals fan.
