JOB DESCRIPTION:

Central Reform Congregation is a warm, welcoming, and progressive Reform synagogue located in the City of St. Louis. We are only 33 years old with a wonderful legacy and commitment to creating meaningful Jewish connections for our members and throughout the community.

We are recruiting a Business Manager, who along with a team, will not only be responsible for management of financial reporting for the Synagogue, but often the person that members will speak with regarding anything financially related. This position will also support the Executive Director, the board president and board treasurer in budgeting of events, programs, Jewish Holidays and with on-going needs.

It is a multi-faceted position. Qualified applicants must be highly organized, extremely detail-oriented, and have outstanding communication skills in person and on the phone. Excellent computer skills, (using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and QuickBooks), as well as, some experience using database software are a must.

This position requires the right applicant to work independently and as an integral member of our team, with strong interpersonal skills, positivity, and willingness to be collaborative and proactively assist others. At times we are fast-paced, so you must be flexible and able to adapt to the needs of the moment. In slower times, it is important that you take on special projects as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Recording cash receipts, sending acknowledgments for appropriate receipts, bank reconciliations, preparation of monthly financial statements, preparation of yearly budget, sending year end tax letters, pay bills
  • Create payroll for outside payroll service to be done 2 X per month
  • Prepare monthly financials for board review
  • Keep congregational management system up to date
  • Prepare annual financial commitment pledge forms, update member records for annual pledges and payments
  • Prepare billings for educational fees and record payments
  • Prepare regular billing for building fund pledges and record payments
  • On-board new hires and resigning staff with appropriate paperwork
  • Create and file 1099s at the end of the year
  • Assist in the gathering of items for yearly compilation report
  • Prepare billings for facility usage
  • Prepare and monitor FSA and 403 b contributions
  • Prepare other financial and accounting reports as needed
  • Prepare and monitor all insurance renewal policies.

    • Worker’s Comp (prepare annual employee census)
    • Various necessary federal filings
    • Health insurance, dental insurance
    • Disability insurance

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of financial statements, QuickBooks, Excel and Word. Congregational management system knowledge is a plus. CRC utilizes Chaverware.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with Jewish Traditions and holidays
  • Experience with not-for profit working environments
