Jewish Federation of St. Louis seeks a creative, highly motivated Senior Accountant who will be responsible for assisting with month end closings, payroll and benefit administration, and endowment administration. The successful candidate will have excellent customer orientation skills, strong organizational and analytical skills and the ability to deal with and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Processes bi-weekly payroll using outside payroll processor.
  • Administration of monthly benefit payments and filings.
  • Monthly accounting for payroll and benefits
  • Prepares other departments monthly financial reports and meets with them monthly to discuss
  • Works with other departments on the budget process
  • Annual calculation of endowment distributions
  • Produces quarterly/annual endowment reporting
  • Trades, monitors, and processes stock donations
  • Prepares general ledger entries.
  • Performs general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Provides flexible capacity, when possible, to support or backup other members of the Fiscal team.
  • Completes special projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor or team members.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3-5 years of general accounting experience.
  • Experience in not-for-profit preferred.
  • Proficient skills with various computer systems and applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent “customer orientation” skills.  Possesses the ability to graciously and effectively obtain needed information from customers; returns correspondence in a timely and causative manner; and builds and maintains effective relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to adapt to change efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mus flexible with hours during busy season.
