United Hebrew Congregation is a Reform Jewish congregation with a traditional mind-set and a progressive heart.

We are looking for a team player who is motivated to join our community and play a key role in the overall presentation of our Synagogue and School campus.

 

Job Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Rate of Pay: Commiserate with experience

Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance:

  • Assist with keeping the Synagogue and School campus safe, clean, and welcoming
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs – paint, replace light bulbs and ceiling tiles, unclog drains, etc.
  • Perform minor landscaping and picks up trash and debris from sidewalks, grass areas, and parking lots
  • Operating backpack leaf blowers, salt spreaders, manually shoveling snow, spreading ice melt chemicals,
  • interior and/or exterior painting; plumbing repairs; carpentry work; removal and installation of flooring; cleaning and/or finishing of interior flooring;
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and monitoring the maintenance and/or repair for the building, grounds, equipment, and other physical assets.
  • Conduct daily walk-through inspections of the facility to check for malfunctions and irregularities and report the same to your Direct Supervisor
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Custodial:

  • Assist with keeping the Synagogue and School campus safe, clean, and welcoming
  • Perform light cleaning during business hours especially in common areas
  • Perform detailed, quality cleaning of bathrooms particularly for the business offices and Sacred spaces
  • Replenish all paper products and delivers supplies throughout the building
  • Receive deliveries and storing supplies
  • Provide Day Porter Service to the school upon need, ex. Vomit clean up, replenishing supplies, delivering equipment etc
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Events:

  • Sets up and breaks down chairs, tables, and equipment for various events
  • Provide Pre/Post clean-up after Events
  • Assist with external facility rental requests and is on-site contact during event
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and monitoring the maintenance and/or repair for the building, grounds, equipment, and other physical assets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule:

  • Day shift  10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Tues - Fri
  • 7:00 AM to 3:00 Sat
  • Overtime Opportunities possible, Schedule changes with notice based on business and/or Sacred Service(s) needs

Experience:

  • Maintenance and Facilities: 1 year (Preferred)

Qualifications and Physical Demands

  • Ability to comprehend and follow oral and/written instructions
  • Standing, climbing, balancing, walking, sitting, stooping or crouching, kneeling, talking, hearing
  • Able to lift, carry, pull, or push 50 lbs.
  • Climb ladder of at least 16 feet
  • Must have a keen attention to detail as it relates to problem areas in need of cleaning and upkeep

Must be able to work independently and proactively with a customer service orientation

  • Must be dependable, complete assigned tasks accurately and on-time, and possess excellent follow-through
  • Proven ability to manage many tasks simultaneously and shift priorities

Essential Functions:

  1. Ability to work indoors and outdoors during extreme weather conditions.
  2. Must be able to reach 6 ½ feet in height and reach low shelves; must be able to climb a ladder of at least 16 feet as needed.
  3. Understand and comply with all state and federal regulations and laws to include OSHA standards.
  4. Must be able to read, understand and follow written label directions, material data, safety and product safety handling sheets.
  5. Must be able to handle and lift a minimum of 50 lbs and bend down to low shelves and cabinets.
  6. Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, lift arms above head, stoop for extended periods of time
  7. Must be able to work at a fast pace, without compromising safety, particularly for, during and after events

.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments or functions as required and/or assigned.
  2. Work schedules may/will vary particularly during major Jewish Holidays. Some circumstances will require early morning, evenings, weekend and/or Holiday hours.

Qualifications:

  1. High School, trade school graduate
  2. Capable of completing tasks with minimal supervision.
  3. Must have amicable and congenial interpersonal relationship skills.
  4. Must be friendly, enthusiastic, dependable, and detailed oriented.
  5. Must have reliable transportation
