Salary: $45,000 - $50,000

This document should serve as a high-level overview of the proposed work of the Development Associate, Young Adults.  The goal is to achieve success in all three pillars: engagement, leadership and philanthropy per our engagement first development model.

YPD is for individuals between the ages of 21-45 and is an affinity group of the Development Department.

Ben Gurion Society is for young philanthropist’s ages 21-45 with household minimum giving between $500 (21-30 years of age) and $1,000 (31-45 years of age).

Position Accountabilities

Engage the young adult community with growth in participants, donors and dollars raised.


  • Coordinate, execute and manage all functions related to Jewish Federation’s Young Adult engagement and provide a Federation face and voice to Young Adults.
  • Serve as community liaison to other peer young adult groups and attend some of their programming.
  • Stay up-to-date on programming for other peer young adult groups, including managing partnership events and maximizing attendance.
  • Continue to build a strong community that advances Jewish involvement and volunteering.


  • Recruit, manage and staff the Young Adult board in alignment with Federation strategic objectives as well as our engagement-first development model.
  • Ensure that individuals are serving in a meaningful way on boards and committees and work with colleagues to identify new board/committee members.
  • Create a leadership pipeline with Young Adults for the organization.
  • As the lead staff for the Ben Gurion Society, work with BGS chairs/committees to develop ACCESS Leadership program, events and other leadership opportunities.


  • Inspire Young Adults to become donors and give at a level meaningful to them to the Jewish Federation Annual Campaign.
  • Develop a work plan and goals for an engagement-first development model for our Young Adult affinity group and work plan to grow Ben Gurion Society.
  • Cultivate donor relations that will result in giving or increased giving and connection to philanthropic opportunities, including a personal portfolio of approximately 80 donors. 
  • Plan and execute one or more annual campaign events for Young Adults that include a donation element.
  • Evaluate the landscape for revenue growth opportunities regarding Annual Campaign and targeted or supplemental giving.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Two to three years of experience in marketing, development, sales or nonprofit management.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Event planning experience.
  • Face-to-face solicitation experience preferred.
  • Ability to motivate and manage volunteer leaders.
  • Passion for meeting new people and introducing them to the work of the Jewish Federation.
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture and customs.
  • Position requires some evening and occasional weekend work.
  • Flexibility to travel both locally and internationally on occasion.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, agencies and service providers.
