Witnessing Whiteness

January 19 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Free

Shir Hadash Reconstructionist Community will commemorate the Shabbat preceding Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a special 10 a.m. Third Shabbat learning session focusing on Witnessing Whiteness. The event is free and open to the public. Guest speakers will be Mary R. Ferguson, Racial Justice Director for the YWCA of Metro St. Louis, and Kenny Murdock, a social justice facilitator with the NAACP and ADL. They will lead a discussion on implicit bias and how it impacts our lives. Ferguson will also talk about how the YWCA’s 10-sesson Witnessing Whiteness program builds community, increases knowledge of white identity, and offers strategies for action while building participants’ racial equity lens for civil engagement.
