When Home Isn’t Safe: Domestic Violence During a Pandemic

August 25, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

As the pandemic drags on with no clear end in sight, people around the country are still being encouraged to stay home. For domestic violence victims—the vast majority of whom are women, children, and LGBTQ+ individuals—home is a dangerous place. Data from many regions already suggests significant increases in domestic violence cases, particularly among marginalized populations.

NCJWSTL and Nishmah are excited to convene a panel of experts who will discuss not only the exacerbated domestic violence crisis, but also what we can do to protect those experiencing or at risk of domestic violence amidst the pandemic. Facilitated by Carly Sparks, MSW, LCSW, the panel includes Rabbi Jessica Shafrin of Jewish Family Services (who will discuss the Jewish perspective), Susan Kidder, MS, CEO of Safe Connections and Jazmine Parks, Crisis and Community Education Manager of Safe Connections.

We hope you will be able to join us for what will be a compelling and important conversation. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact either Jen Bernstein at or Larisa Klebe at
