OLLI Yiddish in the USA from 1890 to Today

January 24 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

$10

Washington University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute comes to the Mirowitz Center! Two main groups of Yiddish speakers, the Hasidim and the secular, were buffeted by forces of history and culture. Hassidic Yiddish is spoken by hundreds of thousands of Jews and the number is growing, while secular Yiddish is battling to survive. Why is this? Come join instructor Arnie Kaplan on a journey to Yiddishland and Fiddler Afn Dach.
