Shabbat St. Louis to Mark 10th Anniversary on March 31

Shabbat St. Louis, a community worship service during Passover led by adults and youth from six St. Louis area synagogues and the Saul Mirowitz Jewish Community School, will mark its 10th anniversary on Saturday, March 31, at 10 a.m. at Congregation Temple Israel, #1 Rabbi Alvan D. Rubin Dr. in Creve Coeur.  The theme of this year’s service is “When You Believe.” Torah study led by area rabbis and cantors will be offered from 9-10 a.m.  The celebration will conclude with a Passover Kiddush immediately following the service. This special 10th anniversary edition of Shabbat St. Louis will feature more musicians, a new community choir, and a special tribute to the event’s founders.  The Shabbat St. Louis service is unique in that it is entirely organized and led by lay people. Participating congregations include Shaare Emeth, Shir Hadash Reconstructionist Community, Temple Emanuel, Temple Israel-Alton, Temple Israel-St. Louis, and United Hebrew.  The service will be sign language interpreted, and assistive listening devices and large print prayer books will be available. Service goers are asked to bring a donation of non-perishable food for the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry. Shabbat St. Louis is made possible by the generosity of congregational and community sponsors, and with the guidance and support of the Association of Reform Rabbis.
